Not much to report on the baby front this week. We've hit 31 weeks and it seems like the finish line is in sight. Our reliable internet sources tell us that Haley is weighing in at 3.3 pounds and is 16 inches long; approximately the weight of 4 navel oranges. We understand that she's starting to fill out with baby fat and is headed for a major growth spurt in the coming weeks. So, you're telling me my belly will get bigger?! That's possible?

Karl had is first (and perhaps only) taste of Babies R Us last week. He was a champ! Next week Karl and I take our birthing class. Poor Karl doesn't seem excited about watching a video of a live birth.

Today is Karl and my third anniversary. It's hard to believe that we've been married for 3 years and have a little one on the way. I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else but Karl, he's an amazing husband.

Little Miss Chubby Cheeks

Karl and I and both sets of grandparents were treated to a sneak peek of Haley last Friday. Babycakes was active all day long, so I was hopeful she'd give us a show during our 3D ultrasound, however in true baby fashion she slept the entire time. We were still able to get some good images of her face - her chubby cheeks are too cute! I think we even managed to see a smile.

We've made it to 30 weeks...I simply cannot believe it. The clock continues to tick and in 10 weeks our girl will be here! Our trusty internet sources tell us that Haley is weighing in at almost 3 pounds and is 15.7 inches long; about the size of a cabbage. Haley and I received a clean bill of health at the doctor's today. She's still breech, but Dr. Newby assures me that most babies turn around on their own in the next few weeks - keep your fingers crossed!

Where Did They Go?

My feet are barely visible these days. Mom treated my toes to a pedicure over the weekend - heavenly! I think pedicures should be subsidized by the government and mandatory for all pregnant women. Abstaining from alcohol hasn't been difficult while pregnant, with the exception of going to eat Mexican food. I would LOVE a margarita...as it happens, my toe nail polish color is Strawberry Margarita. Coincidence?

The Nursery

The nursery is complete!

Karl and Grandpa Pete put in new flooring and a ceiling fan. The furniture is in place, bedding washed and clothes put in drawers. Now we need Miss Haley to show up...in 11 weeks (no early bird baby please). We went with an animal theme, in an effort to avoid too much pink. We felt it would be pink overload if her room was Pepto colored. Her bookshelf is starting to fill up with my childhood favorites - if she's anything like her mom, she'll be an avid reader.

The cushions for the glider are a work in progress, the fabric is too cute! For some reason everyone thinks that the books I've picked out are too advanced for a baby. You mean she won't be reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn at a few months old?

The giraffee print hung in baby Karl's room, it was a gift from Nancy's former co-workers in Buffalo, NY.

Memorable Weekend

Three-day weekends should be mandatory; Karl and I were able to get so much done, as well as enjoy ourselves. The biggest accomplishment is that the nursery is done - yahoo!

We kicked off our weekend with more adventures in babysitting. Charlie was a champ, per usual. He seems to think his aunt is a dork because she kept giving him raspberries on his tummy.

Karl continues his streak as the baby whisperer. He had Charlie smiling and laughing.

Lastly, we enjoyed Celebration at The Station with a huge group of family and friends. The fireworks were awesome and Haley seemed to like them in utero. The kicks came fast and furious once the fireworks started.

We're at 29 weeks and Haley is approximately 15 inches long and weighs 2 1/2" pounds; much like a butternut squash. I'm feeling all 15 inches and 2 1/2 pounds - my feet are quickly disappearing from my view!

Let the Countdown Begin!

Holy Cow, we are officially members of the 3rd trimester! T-minus 84 days and counting. Fingers (and toes) are crossed that Haley stays put until her due date - we want her fully cooked.

Per our trusty internet sources, Haley is the size of a Chinese Cabbage. This means she's weighing in at 2.5 pounds and is 14.8 inches long. The girl continues to grow and boy do I know it!


Still feeling good, but starting to get uncomfortable and most definitely noticing the baby. She moves constantly and the kicks/punches are starting to get stronger. I enjoyed a pre-natal massage last week and it was 90 minutes of bliss. I tried to convince the massage therapist to move in to our house, but oddly enough she didn't take me up on the offer. I'm thankful to be pregnant during the spring and summer - dresses, skirts and flip-flops have become my wardrobe staples.

Karl and I are going to tackle the nursery over Memorial Day weekend. In true Dad fashion, Karl thinks the carpet needs to go and new flooring should be put down. Once that's done we can hang things on the walls and really make it cute. Pictures to come soon!

13 Weeks Left

Only 13 weeks to go before Haley shows up on the scene - wow! According to our trusty internet sources Haley is the size of a head of cauliflower; weighing in at 2 lbs and nearly 14 1/2 inches long. It's hard to imagine that she'll continue to pack on the pounds in the coming weeks.

Nothing much to report for the week, it's been uneventful. I am excited to report that I'm getting a pre-natal massage tonight. As George from Seinfeld once said, "Serenity now!"
