Baby Guacamole

Week 16 has started off uneventful and we like this trend. Our next doctor's appointment is on Tuesday and I'm looking forward to hearing the heartbeat. At our last appointment the little one decided to hide out making it difficult to find the heartbeat, but an ultrasound gave us a good view of him/her swimming about. Our baby is the size of an avocado, hence the baby's name...we think it has a nice ring to it for a boy or girl.
Speaking of names, we've narrowed our list down and have one picked for a boy and a girl. Karl picked the girl's name years ago, long before we were even married. In fact, I have been told that there are no other girl name options. Good thing I love his choice. We're really excited to find out what we're having. Only 5 more weeks - let the countdown begin!

Our rock star nephew, Charlie is thriving. We can't wait to see him again!

I Married Bob Villa

A completely un-baby related post...
When Karl came to me with the idea of renovating our shower, I was skeptical to say the least. Boy, has he proved me and my skepticism wrong. Our shower looks AMAZING! Sadly, I didn't take a before picture, but it was a pre-fab plastic job. Karl has tiled the whole thing and it is beautiful. The guy was up until 1 am last night grouting - talk about dedication! The master craftsman isn't quite done with the job but soon, very soon, we'll be back to having two functional bathrooms. Yes! Pictures to come very soon!

p.s. If anyone needs home repair, call Karl. I'll hire him out for cheap :O)

Baby Apple

Nothing new to report this week - we're heading into our 15th week. The baby is the size of an apple and weighs about 2 1/2 ounces and is 4 inches long. I don't think I've felt the baby move yet, but am on the watch. Anytime in the next few weeks I should start to feel it - exciting!

Karl and I got to hang out with the funnest guy in town on Friday - Charlie! We're smitten with our nephew and can't wait to snuggle with him again. Ryan and Paige are doing a phenomenal job as new parents - we'll be asking them for lots of advice in the coming months!

13 Down, 27 To Go

We've made it to 14 weeks and are official members of the 2nd trimester! Baby is the size of a lemon - he or she has packed on about an ounce since last week and sprouted another half inch. I think the baby belly is starting - my 'regular' pants don't zip or button (the rubber band trick worked for awhile), but maternity pants don't quite fit. Soon enough, I'm sure! We're starting to think about our nursery and names; overall we're having fun enjoying this pregnancy. Karl and I are eager to find out if it's a little boy or little girl.

We're also looking forward to finally meeting our sweet nephew Charlie! He's busted loose from the NICU and is settling in at home. Unfortunately, Karl and I both have colds - we're hoping to be healthy enough to snuggle with Charlie this weekend. We've heard through the grapevine that Mom and Dad are baby pros - we're not the least bit suprised.
I love this picture, he looks like a burrito!

Team Pink or Team Blue?

Karl and I will find out the gender of Baby Schweigel on Friday, April 3rd. Don't forget to vote!

Glow Worm

Baby Charlie's broken out of the NICU and stayed with mama Paige last night. Nana and Papa Manies finally got to hold the little guy - Mom was more than a bit anxious to do so. They're naturals!

Cutie Patootie

Charlie was snoozing through his photoshoot and looking very relaxed. I think he looks like his daddy. What a cutie...I think he's a keeper!

Oh Happy Day!

It's good news all around the Manies/Schweigel family!
Our sweet little nephew arrived on February 1st at approximately 8:15 pm. Charles "Charlie" Michael Manies had a rough landing - Mama Paige is a trooper. We're so proud of her! Charlie is adorable (I'm not at all biased) with a head of dark hair and chubby cheeks. Uncle Karl and I can't wait to hold (and spoil) the little guy! Pictures to come soon.

As of today we're officially in the 2nd trimester - woo! I'm hopeful this means the nausea is on it's way out the door. Karl is hoping that I'll be able to stay awake past 8:30 in the coming weeks. According to our trusty internet resources at 13 weeks the baby is the size of a medium shrimp. Weighing in at approximately 1 oz and is 3 inches from head to rump.

Our awesome friends (with a ridiculously cute baby of their own), Stacey and Jake gave us our first baby gifts. The hat is too cute for words. Thanks guys!
