Trying To Figure It Out

Hello Blog, Haley here. Mom gave me some crazy thing this morning and expected me to play with it...what was she thinking? Turns out, it's fun! Here I am meeting my new friend for the first time.

This is my thinking face, I'm trying to figure out what in the world this thing is.

Uh oh, my new friend is just out of my reach. I'm going to lean waaaaay over here and give Mom a heart attack.

This thing is awesome! My friend makes noise, I love noise! I'm really noisey or so Mom and Dad say.

Please don't take it away Mom, I'm having fun!

This is just me, looking cute.

See you later alligators!

Love,
Haley

Month 7

March 5, 2010

Dear Haley,

Seven months...how is possible you are seven months old already? Before you were born there were times I would wish for time to speed up. I wanted to be older, I wanted it to be Summer, and I wanted Christmas to come early. Now that you’re in my life I want to slow all the watches and clocks in the world. I want to bottle up your babyhood and carry it with me forever. I so wish I could spend the days with you, I feel like I’m missing out on so much.

I swear that the world changed colors for you now that you can sit up. You watch everything and everyone, soaking it all in. It's so fun to watch your mind work; I wonder what you think of things. But you also interact with people; I don’t think you’ve ever met a stranger! Random people in the store or mall are squawked at and then given a big smile, showing off your two new teeth.

You bring such unimaginable joy to our lives, Haley Bug. Daddy and I love to love on you! Your cheeks are so kissable and your chubby baby thighs are so squeezable. Tickles and belly raspberries make you smile and laugh. Your dad and I will do anything and everything to make you laugh. I think second to hearing your first cry, your laugh is one of my all time favorite sounds. Coming in at a close third are your babbles.

I hope you always keep your sweetness and continue to find the humor and joy in everyday life.

You are the sun, the moon and the stars in my sky.

Love,
Mama

Month 6

February 10, 2010

Dear Haley,

I’ll start with an apology - your letter is late this month. I couldn’t think of what to write you this month; other than I am totally and completely more in love with you this month than last. (But, I feel that way each month, each week, each day, each minute...)

You turned 6 months old on the 5th. You’re getting to be such a big girl - it amazes your daddy and me each and every day. You roll over and sit up and try to stand up. You dance and wiggle and splash in the tub. You babble and laugh and smile. You hug and snuggle and squeal and squeak. You have the ability to make everyone in a room smile and fall in love with you (this could be bad news for your dad and me when you hit teenage years).

I realized something profound this month - with your help, I get to be a kid again too...kind of. A grown up kid, I suppose. We made Valentine cards and pink cookies for your friends at daycare. With each little paper heart I cut out, I thought of my two favorite Valentines - you and your daddy. You two have moved into my heart and built a high-rise, a city, an entire country. My heart belongs to the two of you.

You are the sweetest little girl we ever could have hoped for. You exceed our expectations in every way. We love you and can’t wait to see what the next six months bring us.

You are the sun, the moon and the stars in my sky.

Love,
Mama

Guess Who's 6 Months Old?

It's Haley!

How did our girl go from this...

to this, already?

Our girl continues to defy us by growing up. Haley celebrated her 6 month birthday with a check-up at the doctor. She's topping the charts at over 18 pounds (80%) and 27 inches (90%). The Bug is a big girl! Even the doctor was amazed by her growth spurt in the last 3 months. Haley took the shots like a champ - just a few tears, but was quickly soothed and laughing at the nurse.
Haley's working very hard on sitting up by herself and rolling over. She loves to eat and play, but her favorite are baths. Here we are post-bath, sporting our very cute giraffe robe. Happy and clean...for a few minutes at least.

A Few Days In Haley's Life

Hello, Blog - Haley here. I thought it was high time for me to show the readers what my life is like. Here are a few pictures of what I've been up to recently.

Daddy flies me around the house and I think it's the best. So much fun! It's even better when he puts me in the Bjorn while he vacuums. We LOVE to vacuum together!

Here I am spinning around in my doorway jumper. I haven't quite figured out how to bounce, but Daddy does a really good job. I look annoyed...no more pictures Mom, more bouncing Dad!

I like to eat! Sometimes I get kinda messy with my food. Mom and Dad don't feed me fast enough, so I have to help them by using my fingers to shove the food in.

Here I am hanging out in my highchair...it's a pretty sweet ride. Now I get to eat dinner at the table like Mom and Dad! I like the highchair best when I'm pantsless and can reach my toes. My toes are really neat and taste good!

Daaaang - I look SO cute! The pink skirt makes my tushy look particularly adorable. I've been dying to wear the jean jacket - I even asked Mom to roll my sleeves. I'm ready for the runway!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'll make sure Mom posts pictures of me more often. She's slacking and my cuteness needs to be posted on the internet far more often.

Hugs, Haley
